The Deputy Provost of Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies CAILS Ilorin, Barrister Adam Toyin Jamiu has been appointed as the new Chief Imam of Shao in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a statement released by the Shao Community Development Association, the appointment of the Barr. Adam Toyin Jamiu to the revered position was sequel to the unanimous decision of the Council of Ulamahu, Alfas and Elders in the Community, adding that the Ohoro of Shao , His Royal Highness, Oba Dr. Job Obalowu Atolagbe Ayanwola IV is happy with the development.
BARRISTER ADAM TOYIN JAMIU is a native of Shao in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State. He learnt the art of reading the Qur’an and rudimentary knowledge of Arabic and Islamic Studies before he started his primary school in the Seventh Day Adventist School Shao. He proceeded to Muslim Council College, Babanloma also in Kwara State. He later enrolled at and graduated from Arabic Training Centre, Agege, Lagos State where he obtained Senior Arabic Certificate. After his Senior Arabic School Certificate, Adam Toyin Jamiu was engaged as a Teacher in his Community Arabic School, Markaz Jihadudeen, Shao where he taught Arabic grammar and syntax for a period of five years. He also engaged in Da’awah activities during the period.
He attended Bayero University, Kano, and the Nigerian Law School, Bwari Abuja where he was called to the Nigerian Bar in the year 2001. He bagged an ward of Best Student in Islamic Law in Bayero University 1994 -1995. He also went to "better by far" University of Ilorin to obtain his LLB Master in Islamic Law 2021.
As a Legal Practitioner, Barr. Adam Toyin Jamiu had his pupilage in the Law Firm of Shehu & Shehu Associates Ilorin. He was later offered an Administrative and Teaching job in the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin in the Shariah Department, School of Law of the College, where he rose through ranks to the position of Senior Lecturer. He has served in the capacity as Head, Shariah Department, Director, Directorate of College Examinations, Ag. Dean, School of Law and currently the Deputy Provost Academic of the College.
