The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has approved Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin, as a centre for Basic Arabic and Islamic Secondary School Certificate Examination (BAISSCE) and Senior Arabic and Islamic Secondary School Certificate Examination (BAISSCE). Deteriorate. The Head of Quality Assurance of the Board, Dr. Mansur Ahmad, from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, disclosed this in Ilorin when he led the accreditation and affiliation team of the board on an inspection visit to the college. Ahmad, who expressed satisfaction with the physical facilities and human resources available in the college, pointed out that the visit was intended to conduct on-the-spot assessment of the college with a view to facilitating the take-off of examinations at the centre from November this year. He said NBAIS is the national examination body responsible for conducting, monitoring and regulating Arabic and Islamic Studies Education in Nigeria. However, its scope has been extended to conduct examinations on all the major subjects of sciences, social sciences and other fields of studies. Ahmad asked all the accredited centres to adhere strictly to NBAIS syllabus and maintain zero tolerance to examination malpractices. Earlier in his address, the Provost of the college, Dr. Musa Alabi Abdullahi, expressed the hope that the College’s partnership with NBAIS will assist Muslims to pursue education in Arabic, Islamic studies and other vital formal fields. With the approval of CAILS as NBAIS examination centre, it has brought the number of the centres in state to twelve.
