I am writing on behalf of the Management, staff and students of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies in response to your publication, which we read on social media regarding the state of our institution. We have carefully reviewed the issues you raised and deemed it necessary to address your concerns. This is because, we recognize the importance of public discourse and value the input of our community in shaping the future of our college.
First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the concerns expressed in your publication. The voices of Kwara State citizens are vital to the continuous improvement of our institution, and we take the grievances raised seriously. We understand the profound disappointment reflected in your words and are committed to addressing each issue with transparency and accountability.
The unsubstantiated allegation concerning the issuance of fake certificates is deeply concerning, and we categorically deny any involvement in such practices. The integrity of our academic processes is of utmost importance to us. We have implore rigorous auditing procedures to ensure that every certificate issued by the college is legitimate and earned. We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. Moreso certificates are issued by our university of affiliation.
Contrary to the claim that our college has failed to contribute to the development of Kwara State, we have numerous examples of how we have positively impacted our community. Our alumni include esteemed judges, journalists, lawyers, library workers, educators, and leaders who have made significant contributions to various sectors.
We understand the concerns about resource utilization and are committed to transparency. The funds allocated to our college have been used judiciously to support academic programs and maintain facilities. We are working closely with the state government to optimize future allocations for the greatest benefit to our students and the wider community. Resource utilization is constantly being subjected to internal and external auditing
We acknowledge the challenges related to our infrastructure and are actively working to address them. Renovation and upgrading of our facilities are currently ongoing including lecture halls, staff offices, student accommodations, and library resources. Any visitor to CAILS now will see that the College is wearing new face courtesy of Kwara State Government support and effective utilization of resources. We are also exploring partnerships with private sector organizations and NGOs to accelerate these developments.
The reputation of our college remains strong, built on a foundation of academic excellence and community service. We have consistently received positive evaluations from accrediting bodies and have been commended for our contributions to Islamic Legal Studies, Languages, Mass Communication, Computer Science e.t.c. We are dedicated to further strengthening our reputation through continuous improvement in our academic offerings and community engagement. We are pleased to state that feedbacks we received on our graduated student performances is always encouraging.
The state government has been a steadfast partner in our efforts to provide quality education. While your publication suggests inaction on the part of the government, several reforms and support measures have been implemented by government in recent years. We are confident that with ongoing support, we will be able to overcome current challenges and achieve our goals.
We are fully committed to reforming the institution to address the concerns raised.
Our strategic plan for the next five years focuses on improving academic quality, expanding the College programmes, and enhancing student support services. These reforms are designed to position our college as a leader in the educational sector.
Accountability is crucial, and we have taken significant steps to improve governance, including new oversight mechanisms, regular audits, and the establishment of an ethics committee. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of accountability and transparency.
The current crisis of inability of some students in registering for JAMB Direct Entry occasioned by the JAMB new policies which adversely affected CAILS-KWASU as well as CAILS Regular programmes is being addressed.
This perhaps led students to writing derogatory remarks on the College through social media platforms. We make bold to say that all are unfounded and baseless rumours.
We reaffirm our commitment to providing high-quality education and upholding the values of integrity, excellence, and service. We urge you to join us in our efforts to improve the college through constructive dialogue and collaboration. Together, we can ensure that the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies continues to be a source of pride for our community.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support.
Sincerely,
Suleiman Afolabi
